CT Digital Newspaper Project mentioned in the Hartford Courant
The CT Digital Newspaper Project and the Library of Congress’ Chronicling America database got a nice mention from the Hartford Courant this past Monday, December 23, 2019. The article “Opening a searchable treasure trove: Old Manchester newspapers being digitized” discusses a newspaper digitization project currently underway at the Manchester Historical Society. Our previous project coordinator, Christine Gauvreau, is quoted as part of the discussion on the significance of historic newspapers due to the wealth of information they provide, especially in regards to local, family, and social history. In addition to sharing details about the Manchester digitization effort, the article also highlights other newspaper digitization projects taking place, including the CT Digital Newspaper Project, and the Library of Congress database used to house and search for our digitized papers, Chronicling America. Thanks to the Hartford Courant for the mention and best wishes to the Manchester Historical Society on their newspaper digitization project!
